Bale to shine at Real Madrid, says Hughton

Tottenham has opened talks with the Blancos over a 115 million-euro transfer of the Welshman and the club's former assistant boss has backed him to succeed in Madrid
Gareth Bale would have no issue fitting in at Real Madrid, according to former Tottenham assistant manager, and current Norwich boss, Chris Hughton.

The two clubs have opened talks over a 115 million-euro deal for the Welshman, although Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy remains keen to hold onto his prized asset.

Hughton worked with Bale during his early days at White Hart Lane and believes the 24-year-old would have no problem settling, were he to make the move to La Liga.

"For me at the moment [Bale is] a world-class player, and generally those type of players are able adapt to whatever the circumstances are," he told reporters.

"What Gareth has in his game is very adaptable, which he showed last season, he's a wonderfully all-rounded player, I'm quite sure if anything was to happen he would be able to adapt fairly comfortably."

Bale made 44 appearances in all competitions for Tottenham last season, scoring 26 goals, and Hughton is convinced the Welshman has shown he is one of the best players in the world.

"He was outstanding last season and I think he has gone into that level of world-class players," he added.

"I think Tottenham have handled this very, very well. He's their player, he will only go on their terms, that's if he goes at all. But, I think they've handled it very, very well.

"It's a very exciting prospect that a player, certainly a player that has developed in this country can be valued so high by one of the greatest clubs in the world."
