Lewandowski hails Dortmund patience

After a narrow victory on Sunday, the Poland international has lauded his side's composure in breaking down a stubborn visiting rearguard.

Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski has praised his team's patience after their 2-1 win against Eintracht Braunschweig on Sunday.

The newly-promoted underdogs were resilient in the face of BVB pressure for much of the afternoon at Signal Iduna Park, much to the frustration of last season's Champions League finalists.

But youngster Jonas Hofmann, who was brought in for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the second half, was able to break the deadlock in the

75th minute.

Later on, Marco Reus scored a penalty and Kevin Kratz marked a consolation as Dortmund held on for all three points.

"Braunschweig were standing very deep," the 24-year-old told the club's official website.

"If you don't score a goal during the early stages of the match in this situation, you tend to struggle against a heavily defending team like that.

"But in the end, we did well and waited for our chance patiently. We need to work on our effectiveness, however."

Meanwhile, Hofmann was delighted with scoring his first Bundesliga goal after coming off the bench.

"If you join the action on the pitch, of course you want to have an impact on the game. Especially when it's still 0-0, you want to help your team and show that there's a lot more in it."
