Alexis ready to fight for Barcelona future

The Chilean says he is confident in his abilities as a player and wants to show that he can be an asset to the Blaugrana in the coming campaign.
Alexis Sanchez says he is determined to prove himself at Barcelona after enduring a difficult 2012-13 campaign.

The Chilean attacker moved to Camp Nou from Udinese two years ago and, despite a promising start to life in Spain, has struggled with niggling injuries and a loss of form since.

However, he is determined to show that he is worthy of a regular place in the coming campaign, despite reported interest from Napoli.

"The first thing is to have a good preseason, then fight for a spot in the team every day," he told reporters. "I trust in my abilities as a player, the club told me they are counting on me and I will stay to keep helping the team.

"I don't care if I play on the wing or in the middle. There is no difference."

Alexis is set to face even more competition from new signing Neymar next term but he is looking forward to teaming up with the Brazilian.

"I wish him the best for his development in European football," he continued. "I hope he does well and he has the support of all the teammates. He is just one of the team, who will try to fight for titles together."
