Spain selection an 'unforgettable experience' for Inigo Martinez


The 22-year-old defender reveals he has learned alot from training with la Roja's star-studded squad and is now hoping to feature against Ecuador on Wednesday

Spain newcomer Inigo Martinez has revealed that his time with the national team has already made for an "unforgettable experience".

The Real Sociedad starlet has never previously been called up by la Roja and, speaking on the eve of Wednesday's friendly against Ecuador, he admitted he is loving every minute of his time with the reigning world and European champions.

“It’s certainly been an

unforgettable experience,” he told reporters. “I just want to take my opportunity.

“This team has such great players, so it’s easy to learn. Us youth players are keen to be with these great professionals and learn new things. It’s a unique opportunity.”

Martinez, who represented his country at last summer's Olympics prior to his triumph with the Under-21 side at the European Championship, is a product of Real Sociedad's youth academy.
