Weidenfeller dreams of World Cup berth

The 33-year-old has yet to be capped by his country but he has been offered some encouragement by die Mannschaft boss Joachim Low
Borussia Dortmund's Roman Weidenfeller has revealed that he would jump at the opportunity to be Germany's third-choice goalkeeper at the 2014 World Cup.

The 33-year-old shot-stopper has never before been capped at senior level by his country but he has been lifted by compliments he recently received from die Mannschaft boss Joachim Low, who said he has been monitoring the veteran's form.

"I am very happy with the recognition of the national team coach," Weidenfeller told Kicker.

"If the German Football Association needs my help, I would be happy to help. I would be ready at any time.

"I would, of course, gladly go as number three [goalkeeper] for the World Cup next year."

Weidenfeller, who has been at Signal Iduna Park for over a decade, has only previously been capped at Under-21 level by his country.
