Official: Roma signs Gervinho

The Giallorossi have secured the signing of the Ivorian, Arsenal confirmed on Thursday, who becomes the Italian side's fifth major signing this summer
Roma has completed the signing of Arsenal attacker Gervinho for a fee believed to be around 8 million euros, the English club confirmed on Thursday.

Gervinho, 26, has agreed a contract with the Giallorossi - though the length has not been announced yet - and will team up with former Lille coach Rudi Garcia, who also joined the Serie A giants this summer.

The Ivorian forward, who failed to established himself as a first-team regular with Arsenal, becomes Roma's fifth major signing of the

summer following Morgan De Sanctis, Maicon, Mehdi Benatia and Kevin Strootman.

Arsenal said on the team's official website: "Gervinho has joined Italian Serie A side AS Roma for an undisclosed fee.

"Everyone at Arsenal would like to thank Gervinho for his contribution to the Club and wish him well for his future career."

Roma has been looking to strengthen its squad following a disappointing campaign last year, having missed out on European football after finishing sixth in Italy's top flight and runner-up to rival Lazio in the Coppa Italia.

Gervinho made 18 Premier League appearances last season, scoring five goals.
