Klinsmann calls in 23 players for Bosnia-Herzegovina friendly

Michael Bradley and Jozy Altidore headline a roster that does not include Clint Dempsey or Landon Donovan.

U.S. national team manager Jurgen Klinsmann has called in 23 players to prepare for Wednesday's friendly against Bosnia-Herzegovina.

Jozy Altidore and Michael Bradley headline a strong group that includes both seasoned veterans and some new faces, but recently transferred captain Clint Dempsey and Gold Cup star Landon Donovan were both left out of the team.

Four players are in camp with the senior team for the first time with John Anthony Brooks, Cody Cropper, Aron Johannsson and Bobby Wood all on the roster.

Johannsoon has applied to FIFA for a change of association and likely won't be able to take part in Wednesday's match with the change not yet approved.

Brooks made his Bundesliga debut over the weekend, and nabbed his first goal in Germany's top flight in the process.

“This is another opportunity to give ourselves a benchmark against a great opponent and one of the top teams in Europe,” said Klinsmann in a team release. “Our European-based players are just getting started with their seasons and this gives them a chance to get going a couple weeks before our big World Cup Qualifiers. We’re also excited to bring some new faces into the Senior Team and have them start to become part of the group.”
