Eto'o staying at Anzhi, says Fifa agent Tirri



The Cameroon star had been linked with Chelsea and Napoli following the Russian outfit's internal upheaval, but is set to remain with the club

Samuel Eto'o will not leave Anzhi Makhachkala before the close of the summer transfer window, according to Fifa agent Peppino Tirri.

With the Russian club having recently announced plans to drastically reduce their expenditure, it has been speculated that the game's highest-paid player might be sold to the highest bidder in an effort to offset funds.

That has led to links with both Chelsea and Napoli, but Tirri, who was involved in the deal that saw Eto'o move from Inter to Anzhi, insists that the

striker is staying put.

"Absolutely, yes," he told Tuttomercato. "Eto'o is an Anzhi player and the club have provided him with every guarantee in relation to his wage level, which would make it difficult to leave [for elsewhere]."

Indeed, Tirri unequivocally dismissed the possibility of Napoli being in a position to sign Eto'o, while at the same time saying he knew nothing of Jose Mourinho's reported interested in being reunited with his former Inter charge at Stamford Bridge.

"Napoli, it makes absolutely no sense," he declared. "The player has too high a wage. Would a deal be possible with a wage cut? I can guarantee that the player would not reduce [his salary].

"And I know nothing of Chelsea. Nobody has contacted me."
