Gago set to rejoin Boca Juniors

The 27-year-old is on the verge of completing a return to the Bombonera this summer after Boca Juniors successfully thrashed out a deal with Valencia for the midfielder.
Valencia has confirmed midfielder Fernando Gago is set to re-sign for Boca Juniors this summer for a fee believed to be in the region of 1.7 million euros.

The 27-year-old has been heavily linked with a return to his former club during the offseason and Los Che's sporting director, Damia Vidagany, has confirmed the deal is complete, with just formalities to sort.

"Gago is no longer a Valencia player. Therefore we will not talk about him anymore," Vidagany told Telam. "Boca made a 1.7 million euro bid for 50 percent of the transfer, and we accept that. All we need is the offer on paper."

Meanwhile, Boca president Daniel Angelici has confirmed the wheels are in motion to bring the former Real Madrid man back to La Bombonera and expects the deal to be finalized by Monday.

We have agreed to Gago's contract and wages. Everything is on track and I believe that he will be here by Monday," Angelici told Radio 9.

Gago, who rose through the ranks with the Xeneizes, enjoying a prolonged spell with the Argentine giants before departing for Real Madrid in 2007
