Prince Boateng thinks U.S. style of play could be attractive to German-Americans

Boateng is good friends with Jermaine Jones and believes the growing talent of the national team and its style of play is attracting German-Americans to commit to the U.S.

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- The number of German soccer players joining the United States national team continues to grow, with John Anthony Brooks becoming the latest addition to Jurgen Klinsmann's team.

A highly touted 20-year-old in Germany, Brooks is thought to have star potential and could be a starter for the U.S. as early as next year. There have been a lot of discussion over the choices of Germans deciding to play for the U.S. While reasons from playing time to racial identity have been thrown out there, AC Milan star Kevin-Prince Boateng has other thoughts.

Boateng, a German-born midfielder who switched national teams to play for Ghana, believes that style of play is another factor that is encouraging dual nationals to play for the U.S.

"I have a good friend that switched sides, Jermaine Jones. He told me it's developing very quick, football in America," Boateng told Goal after Milan's 2-0 defeat to Chelsea in the Guinness International Champions Cup.

"Maybe you see more possibilites, sometimes it's the style that you play. It may not be [a good fit] for the Germans. Maybe it's better that you change and if you have the possiblity, maybe you're happier on a different national team. "

If Brooks becomes cap-tied to the U.S., he will join Jones, Terrence Boyd, Danny Williams, Fabian Johnson and Timmy Chandler as German-Americans on the squad.
