The 28-year-old Spain international will complete his
move to White Hart Lane subject to medical, adding firepower to Andre
Villas-Boas' quest for Champions League qualification.
Tottenham has confirmed a deal has been agreed upon with Valencia for forward Roberto Soldado, subject to the Spain international completing a medical with the Premier League club.
Spurs are set to pay the 30 million euro release fee for Soldado following a phone call between
Spurs' technical director, Franco Baldini, and Valencia president Amadeo Salvo. The White Hart Lane side announced the deal on its offical website, stating: "We are delighted to announce that we have reached agreement with Valencia for the transfer of Roberto Soldado subject to medical."
Andre Villas-Boas moved for the 28-year-old forward after being pipped to a Champions League qualifyig spot by fierce rivals Arsenal last season, and was keen to add more firepower to an attack that faltered in crucial fixtures.
Salvo confirmed the hold-up in completing the deal was due to an issue with Soldado's representatives, but with the problems seemingly resolved, Soldado is close to finally completing his move to England.
The signing takes on added significance for the North Londoners in the face of Real Madrid's concerted efforts to sign their star player Gareth Bale.
Negotiations have reportedly started between Spurs and Madrid over the 24-year-old Welshman's signature, so confirmation of a deal for Soldado will be welcome news to fans of the Premier League club with the new season just weeks away.
Soldado has been a success at Estadio Mestalla since signing in 2010 as a replacement for David Villa, scoring 81 goals in 141 appearances.
